Sustaining the work of human rights groups will be crucial in aftermath of this horrendous disaster, especially to ensure that the declared state of emergency is not used as a smokescreen for repression and rights violations

Lots of good chats with residents on Chancellor’s Way in Mincinglake with Exeter Labour Party County Cllr Tracy Adams and City Cllr Naima Allcock. Roads, alleyway cleansing, speeding, and the housing development - lots of issues raised. #labourdoorstep

1/ Analysis of over around 120,000 thousand tweets on the hashtag #15minutecities and '15 minute cities' highlights clear polarisation on the topic with little 'mixing'. As others have pointed out, a fairly obvious right-wing and conspiracy orientated cluster are promoting it

Did you spot us on BBC Spotlight? The story was about Exeter’s solar farm and battery storage facility which has gone live and is now powering the city’s electric fleet of vehicles, recycling centre and offices with green energy. Read More: news.exeter.gov.uk/exeter-s-solar…

What’s even more terrifying are govt’s plans to repeal human rights act which would give parliament more powers to determine the balance between policy aims and Convention rights so such “incompatibilities” as these won’t even matter

Also the brazen hypocrisy of tories claiming to do this to crack down on people trafficking while simultaneously proudly denying victims of trafficking recourse to modern slavery protections is breathtakingly disgusting. What has become of our country, I despair.

The final figures are in: just 63,279 people met last night's 5pm deadline to apply for new Voter ID. That's a tiny 3% of the 2 MILLION people who lack the right ID to vote under the Govt's new rules. inews.co.uk/opinion/tory-v…

The average prison sentence for a violent offence in England is 18 months. A woman who had an abortion without following correct procedures just got 28 months under an 1868 act- we need urgent reform to make safe access for all women in England, Scotland and wales a human right.

I feel sick thinking about those in the submersible. I feel sick thinking about those seeking a safer life who freeze to death in refrigerated trucks, drown in capsized boats, and die of thirst trying to cross deserts. Human life is precious and and everyone deserves protection
