A reminder that building care staff never left and continued to work, even after Cornell University shut down this past March. Frontline workers in every dorm cleaning all contact points each day. Entering student rooms to sanitize private bathrooms. No hazard pay, limited communication.

The CDC has announced a new, nationwide moratorium on evictions lasting from now until the end of December. This thread will cover the details, and then some actions that DSA locals can take to ensure it is effective and that tenants are not forced out of their homes regardless.

Hard to describe the feeling of impaling a good oocyte correctly as "It's been awhile" by Staind simultaneously plays on Pandora.

60% of West Virginia is facing eviction. The moratorium we have until the end of the year only punts the ball and let’s more months of bills pile up. This could be our state - just in time for the holiday season. We deserve better. It breaks my heart, y’all #EvictionMoratorium

"Today’s Daily Check system issue affected a large number of students who were also listed as student employees." Cornell's systems are confused by the "sometimes student/sometimes employee" designation. Listing graduate workers as the workers may help...plus worker benefits.

Thanks to my (awesome) former student Nathan Scinto-Madonich @axiomaticroot for tweeting this response to this dubious paper on the effectiveness of female mentors in science. With the pandemic and climate change, is this the "science" we need right now??? retractionwatch.com/2020/11/19/nat…

Elites can blow more money on one meal than struggling people receive from unemployment and flaunt their own rules, while chastising those wanting to see their families for holiday. 'Open the economy, but please sacrifice everything else in your life.'nytimes.com/2020/11/25/opi…

It can be hard to be thankful for things that just feel normal. If your housing is secure, take a moment to appreciate how fortunate that is, what losing it would mean, and how the colonization of the US ended the housing security of an entire native population.
