Wait!! Wasn't Hancock the chief health tadger during the pandemic? It's excruciating how low the bar is for leadership in this country.

If senior leaders in Scottish education started talking more about the curriculum as SPECIFIC KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & EXPERIENCES, as opposed to broad ideological concepts that are too vague to have any practical value, we MIGHT start to see the improvements we’re all aiming for.

At what point is the penny going to drop in Scotland that schools without any consequences for poor behaviour are very unlikely to offer rich learning environments for students or happy places of work for staff? (And that restorative conversations alone often aren’t enough.)

Sooooo!! You commission a survey where the majority of respondents disagree with the premise, and then decide to use that data as a reason for children to come to your school. Those who taught maths to the people that signed off on this advert have a lot to answer for.

How good are Scottish teachers at predicting exam grades? For most qualifications at N5, Higher and Advanced Higher there was “greater alignment” between teacher estimates and results in 2023 than before the pandemic Full story ⬇️ tes.com/magazine/news/…

It's always important to see the PISA results in a number of wider contexts. As with all data, it's only useful if it informs meaningful and positive change.

Colin McGill (@colinmcgill) 's Twitter Profile Photo

It's probably hard to pin down PISA trends to any one factor, but Lindsay Paterson makes a good case for the downgrading of knowledge to be a major issue in Scotland.

Listening to some voters on Radio 5 this morning saying how the Conservatives have let them down and they probably aren't going to vote for them this time. Stockholm Syndrome.
