No to more tax. No to more debt. Grow or cut. It’s time the ANC embraced the need for wider, faster economic reform, because I very much doubt the DA will support tax increases or allow borrowing to deviate much from the MTBPS plan. timeslive.co.za/sunday-times/n…

This is a very, very important day for South Africa and the future of the GNU. The DA warned clearly it would not support VAT increases because they hurt the poor. We stood our ground, and won. The ANC just learnt an essential lesson in coalition government. A great day!

So we told DA is anti poor but but they did not budge on the 2% VAT increase by the ANC. This is huge. This is unprecedented . You can't loot, loot, and loot, increase social grants, obviously money will run out and VAT would have to increase. Money has to come from somwhere.

The postponement of the Minister of Finance’s 2025/26 Budget Speech due to the DA’s opposition to the ANC’s VAT increase is a victory for the people of South Africa, as it prevents the implementation of a 2% VAT increase that would have broken the back of our economy. 🇿🇦

The DA is not a supporter of tax hikes, especially for the poor through VAT. Let’s get a pro-growth, jobs creating budget on the table agreed to by the GNU.

Today's Budget Speech has been postponed following intense DA pressure against a proposed 2% VAT increase by the ANC. If included in the budget, the DA was prepared to vote against it. The DA will keep fighting to protect South Africans from higher taxes and fewer jobs! Join

Duncan McLeod Cutting yes. A properly comprehensive spending review required. But also and ultimately more importantly, growth. It’s grow or die. In the end we can’t tax, borrow or cut our way to economic success. We need to grow.

Growth! Implement bold pro-growth structural reforms with clear deadlines —> create more jobs —> more people paying tax —> more tax revenue to fund services without hiking debt or tax rates 🇿🇦

The most striking thing about this clip is that the Finance Minister doesn’t mention growth. Just talks about how to fund “priorities”. The answer is: we don’t. We grow the economy and revenues will flow from that. It’s grow or die.

This is an exceptionally good, and critically important piece. Economic growth is now not just an ideal, it is an absolute imperative, or something terrible awaits. It is something the ANC has to accept, and reform around. Clear, practical and right. Read. businesslive.co.za/bd/opinion/202…

More people can find a job in the Western Cape than anywhere else in the country. For the last half of 2024 our employment rate was below 20% at 19,6%. The Western Cape now leads on all four employment metrices that Statistics South Africa measures quarterly. These are not just

Highly respected President Cyril Ramaphosa praised the DA run municipalities and rightly so. We have 257 municipalities, consisting of 8 metropolitan municipalities, 44 district municipalities, and 205 local municipalities. The DA controls 20. EACH ONE GOT A CLEAN AUDIT The AG
