In Utah’s Great Salt Lake, back in the 1840′s, there were two reports of a lake monster. One described the creature as having a dolphin’s body, while the other described it as half-crocodile, half-horse.

Much like the Mokele-mbmebe, the Irizima is described as being a living Sauropod. The difference, however, is that the Irizima is said to have a horn at the end of it’s snout. The creature is found in Lake Edward, which borders Uganda and the Democratic Republic of the Congo.

A lake monster seen before “Nessie” was even a term. First seen in 1676 by a Colombian priest, he described the creature as a whale sized fish with the head of a bull. It resides in Lake Tota, located in Colombia. The creature is also rooted in Muisca culture and mythology.
