Many thanks to Jim Higgins, arts and book editor at the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, for including my new book, Restoring Prairie, in his new list of books he recommends. jsonline.com/story/life/202…

Whatever you're working on, just love the shit out of it. That's it. That's the secret. You don't have to enjoy it all the time. You might have no idea what it even is. Doesn't matter! Just love that little beast. Love it. Give it what you got, and you will be just fine.

I am glad the RNC is coming to Milwaukee. I have personally advocated with a bipartisan group to get extra funding for security for this convention. So it is a slap in the face to have my beloved city described as anything other than welcoming.

The NABJ interview with Trump provides a model for media coverage wapo.st/3Ak8QmW "Relatively benign phrases such as “racially insensitive” to describe such patently bigoted comments serve only to normalize Trump."

Nothing prevents the networks from running a fact checking scroll on the side of the screen while Trump is speaking. We know what the lies are going to be. Fact checking graphics can be ready to go before he speaks.

from my pre-11/5 poem re: early voting: "One person goes to fetch a folding chair for the pregnant woman who’s likely near her due date. Though tired, she’s cheerful, hoping not much longer until delivering baby & being delivered good news about the election of she we choose."
