“Only boats are working in the flooded areas. It took four hours to reach a marooned village and the scenes are devastating,” Daniel Mutinda, @IFRC Disaster & Climate Crises Delegate. He's in Tanzania assessing the severe floods with Tanzania Red Cross Society. Over 85,000 people are displaced.

Tanzania Red Cross Society and IFRC assessment team are still on the ground. Very challenging to move around the area but no giving up. Together with the community they fixed temporarily a bridge to allow relief items to be delivered by trucks

"We found a bridge we had used in the morning heading for an assessment damaged and we had to wait for hours as the community tried to fix it," Matt Baden, IFRC In-Country Ops Manager. Tanzania Red Cross Society has set up 9 camps to support families affected by the #Tanzania flooding.

🚨 A small cyclone named Hidaya is forecasted to make landfall off Tanzania's coast today, authorities caution. The warning extends to heavy rainfall anticipated across various regions from May 3 to 6. This further compounds the already severe flood situation in the country.

Data shows that #GenderBasedViolence risks increase during disasters, but rapid interventions can change that. "As responders, we are able to recognize signs of #GBV and know how to provide appropriate support." @IFRC Delegate, Disaster Management, Daniel Mutinda. #16Days.
