Peter MacDougall, the Deputy Minister of Global Affairs Canada , UNICEF Global Dir of Education Robert Jenkins, & other delegates visited Dabat Shemelako primary school to see the progress of World Vision's #BeteProject, funded by UNICEF with US$ 750,000.
World Vision Ethiopia had the chance to showcase its response efforts to Secretary Antony Blinken and join the launch of JEOP 2.0. Thanks to USAID, World Vision in #Ethiopia is providing millions of Ethiopians affected by drought & conflict with food, medical supplies, WASH, & dignity kits.
I’m with WorldVision Ethiopia for a learning visit to Tigray, to understand how the challenges of this fragile region have led to a #HungerCrisis for children. We'll see the impacts of conflict, violence, health and food insecurity, but start with a critical need: clean water. #Enough
Samrawit is 16 and lives in Tigray. Two years of bloody conflict forced her family to flee for their lives for months. They returned to find their only source of clean water destroyed. Thanks to funding from Development Canada, her well has been restored, along with dozens of others.
More than 26% of children in Tigray face malnutrition, a situation worsened by the conflict. So many health posts were damaged in the war. WorldVision Ethiopia has helped rebuild centres like this in Adi Hageray. Priority is to treat kids acutely malnourished, like little Hermela.
My Tigray visit has been eye-opening. I left with such appreciation for the resilience of the people of this region. They've faced so much conflict, displacement and need—and yet they're committed to rebuilding. Blessed to join KarmenTill & WorldVision Ethiopia team here. #gratitude
As I head to NY for Education Cannot Wait I'm thinking of these kids in Tigray, Ethiopia. Despite conflict and need, they're excited to get back to school. Funding for #EducationInEmergencies must be a priority. These are just some of the #222MillionDreams at stake. WorldVision Ethiopia #ECW
