E. coli packs a genome into cell 1/1000th of its length, duplicates it, and sends a copy to each daughter cell every twenty minutes. It's humiliating.

Really excited to share this. A massive effort from Charles Cooper. We find that H-NS isn't just for gene silencing. All this time it's been busy capturing transposons, and inserting them into bound DNA. We think there are some big implications (1/4) biorxiv.org/content/10.110…
