LSV took top spot at Pro Tour Berlin exactly 14yrs ago today! In that Extended event, six of the Top 8 players piloted Elves. When the Final eventually came, it was LVS's Elves against Matej Zatlkaj's. That match was over in just 3 games & Luis entered the ranks of PT champion!

I love discovering old art easter eggs & i've just learned about this one: Nils Hamm illustrated RETURN TO RAVNICA's Coursers' Accord. It depicted a pair of Centaur. In the following set—GATECRASH—he reused those same Centaur from Coursers' Accord for "Illness in the Ranks".

The first wave of Magic: The Gathering's FALLEN EMPIRES began hitting US retailers 28 years ago today! While the expansion itself is often remembered as overprinted; it innovated gameplay with the first sac lands, consistent creature types & heavy token/counter-based effects.

A lot of old WOTC articles have been erased last year. Not even available with Wayback machine. They were still accessible last summer. The MTG history have been flushed out of the Internet Mark Rosewater Brian David-Marshall Aaron Forsythe

While I don't really post on here much anymore, I still mine the past for Magic history. In doing so, I recently had the pleasure of podcasting with Wizards' first in-house lawyer—Brian Lewis. We chat about the reserved list origins, counterfeiting, the TCG patent & much more:

Was at SkullStore in Toronto, Ontario this week. It’s a fascinating place & got an amazing tour by the resident Magician Jim (illusionist, not card game player) One of my fav things was that there was the mtg card “Meteorite” next to a bunch of purchasable actual meteorites!
