I am ready for summer. I want to swim in that ocean!

Garden advice sought: A squirrel started storing nuts in my planters on my balcony in the fall. I figured it was a seasonal thing and didn’t mind. Now they are trying to bury food such as: pizza crust, half a donut, apple core. How do I get them to stop? My cat doesn’t mind.

Seeing kids proud of themselves is the best!

The satisfaction I get from making a schedule of tasks and checking things off as I go. I’m telling myself I’d be bored if my regular job was as predictable as this no students week is.

Year five is a wrap! When I started teaching I told myself I’d stick it out five years before quitting because I didn’t want to be part of that stat. This was also the first year without imposter syndrome. I think I’ll keep doing this teaching thing!

Ended the first week back at school in the woods and talking about how much I like teaching. One of the best parts of this profession is just how many fresh starts we get a year. #septemberoptimism

The teens are alright. Cracked a rib, explained to my classes my current limitations. Kids are basically jumping over each other to help me out. I feel very fortunate to spend my time in such an optimistic world.

Watching my colleague go through this harassment is upsetting. Annie Ohana is always willing to talk and look at other sides of issues. Most importantly, she wants what is best for students.

I need an adultier-adult! What does one do if a pigeon makes a nest of an empty planter on their balcony? I would like to use my balcony and not clean up tons of bird mess, but also do not want to harm the parents/babies.
