My first Meet the Teacher was a success! Now I’m just so excited to welcome students into the classroom on Wednesday!!

It is only day 3 and students are already able to demonstrate what a successful independent reader looks like! I am so proud of them!

Earlier this week, we learned one of the sounds that the heart letters “ou” makes. Today, this sweet student of mine was so excited when she was able to sound out the word “found” using the skills we learned in phonics!

2nd graders learned about annotating responses today. I went to Ms. Taft’s class to see all smiles! We will finish tomorrow. Readers sharing text evidence to support their thinking. Sharon Briseño

Our ELAR classrooms were rocking balanced literacy & student ownership today! We saw mini lessons, phonics, independent reading, learning progressions, annotated success criteria and self-assessment! Way to go Ms. Mills, Ms. Maston, Ms. Taft & Ms. Windlow! FBISD Literacy

Today, students practiced using a fluency checklist to create fluency goals for themselves! These two students decided that they want to work on changing their voice to match the punctuation.

1st year teacher, Ms. Taft is rockin' 2nd grade! Her students were reading independently and identifying the theme. A small group was working hard on word work. #100%engagement Sharon Briseño
