In the next few days, films inspired by A Christmas Carol will be hard to avoid.

Yet looking back on 2023, it’s the opening line of Dickens' novel, A Tale of Two Cities (‘It was the best of times, it was the worst of times’), that feels more relevant. 🧵🔽 (1/20)

“There may be a justification for such a remarkable imbalance of rewards, but I’ve never heard it” - excellent piece, and refreshing to see extreme wealth framed (at least in part) as an addiction. we need to look at how we talk - and think - about wealth and what is ‘enough’.
