K-12 coaches Centre of Excellence for Black Student Achievement has called on educators to position Black Joy in their pedagogy. As many read the quote from Javon Johnson piece, they were also tasked with thinking about the unlimited possibilities of building positive racial identity within instructional programming.
Created in collaboration with Toronto District School Board educators & staff, the Sankofa Black Heritage Series Teachers’ Guide is now available. The guide supports the implementation of Black-centred texts & culturally relevant pedagogies in Gr. 4-8 classrooms. bit.ly/3ulWeoB #tdsb #tdsbcebsa

Over the summer Centre of Excellence for Black Student Achievement partnered with uOttawa Engineering to offer Black students an opportunity to take STEM courses for credits. Understanding the barriers in #STEMeducation, intentional steps were taken to engage students in Grades 8 to 12 and recent graduates.
