Every educator who did work today or is planning to tomorrow should ask: What is wrong with our systems that we don’t have enough time Monday to Friday? & why do we put up with this??

A1: I found this past week to be calmer than the last two years. Students were happy to be back and be in school. #bcedchat

A2: Mainly path 4, has really shown the importance of balance and self care. I was teaching in person pretty much full time once we went back in. the 2020-2021 has been the worse for me, I felt like I was failing my students, families, and myself. #bcedchat

A3: The expectations is a big one. It seems like things are supposed to just go back to normal but also be emotional support for students going through trauma. #bcedchat

A4: Having 1-to-1 devices and the use of technology in the classroom. Using Teams has been helpful to have communicate with me at home, and a private place to share. #bcedchat

A5: teaching hybrid. We were expected to do the job of 2 with the same amount of time and be engaging to all students. #bcedchat

We can’t expect teachers to work 60-70 hrs per week or more, but then tell them to self care. Maybe leaving is their self care? Let's focus on taking care of teachers in the 2022-2023 school year!

Systemic/institutional racism-ways that whiteness &white superiority become embedded in the policies &processes of an institution, resulting in a system that advantages white people &disadvantages BIPOC/IBPOC, notably in employment, education, justice, &social participation.
