When I started calling parents to tell them what their kids did well, rather than always what they did wrong, my entire classroom dynamic changed for the better - and parents were happy to hear from me.

This works in PLCs, classrooms, and staff! Team work when everyone in the team is committed can create amazing results! #EDUC502

Parents want to hear when their child is doing well! They want to know you care! If you only call when there is something negative to share, it will be very difficult to build a relationship with the parents. #EDUC502

Organized chaos can be learning! If students are up and moving through different parts of an assignment, the volume in the room can increase. It doesn’t mean they aren’t learning, they are learning from each other in conversations. #EDUC502

These are all important, but number 2 sticks with me more because when you have high expectations of your staff, they will exceed them. Many do not need to be micromanaged! #EDUC502

When you decide to turn off your email for the weekend only to come back to so many!!! When can I turn it off and not feel guilty? #EDUC502

I think we should all be doing this more often! Observing others will provide you new tools and ideas to try in your classroom. #EDUC502

So accurate! Get out of that fixed mindset and realize you become stronger with life experiences. You are growing, even when you don't see it yet. Focus on the present and future! Have a growth mindset! We are all strong! #EDUC502

When students see their ideas validated, they are more willing to take risks. 👏🏾👏🏾 edutopia.org/article/empowe…

Don’t just dismiss a thought that is not what you were looking for. Ask clarifying questions and genuinely listen to what all of your students have to say. They will be more likely to share and become a risk taker in class. #EDUC502

Nice reminder! These are skills we often assume they have. Many do not and need our support to model and teach them. Even something as simple as how to write their assignments in their agenda books! #EDUC502

Definitely a huge reward is hearing from former students. I love hearing what they are doing and attend extracurriculars they are involved in. The past few weeks have been my seniors telling me about post high school plans, which includes some scholarship offers! #EDUC502

When students were given a choice in class today between a chromebook or paper to complete an assignment, many chose paper. Be intentional when you including technology and try to give them a choice when possible! #EDUC502

I try to instill this in my students! Your actions show me who you are more than your words! Do what you say you are going to do! #EDUC502
