It was a great day being back in the classroom and getting to know everyone! The kids did an activity called "Quiz-Quiz-Trade" today with questions to get to know each other better. It was great seeing them relax and start forming friendships.

It was a great first week! On Thursday and Friday, we started our Leader in Me learning. Students learned ways they can be a leader, and the class worked together to create our class mission statement. Students also spent some time sharing highlights from their summer.

Third graders learned about magnets this week. Part of the learning involved them just "playing" with magnets testing out what was and was not magnetic. Some comments I heard include: "The magnets stick to the board!" "The magnets stick to the pen!" They had fun!

Fourth graders have (temporarily) become system engineers. They are learning about different systems to help them gain the understanding to solve the problem of blackouts in a fictional town. This week, they created a small system using a solar panel, clips, a fan, and a motor.

Third graders spent part of the afternoon showing off their balloons for the third grade parade. Fourth graders spent time time trying to COLLECTIVELY choose only 2 "system improvements" for FINALLY solving the blackout problems in the fictional town of Ergstown
