Diving into our history unit with a Knowledge Building Circle around the words 'Contract', 'Relationship' and 'Agreement'. What do they mean? What do they look like? How are they connected to our understanding towards our indigenous history?

During this week's Viola Desmond Public School read alouds, we have focused on the power and impact of words. Ss were challenged to think of "One word to change the world". 7-2 did a KBC around this question and discussed the difference a word can make when thinking of impact and change

We have been discusing treaty relationships and relationships with the land. After reading Treaty Words, Ss discussed among their groups the messages within the story, and turned their findings into a 6 word summary

Collaborating with the 7s in 7/8-1 to take part in an afternoon of science experiments! Ss mixed different solutes into their solvent (water) and had to determine the type of mixture they created 🧪

Working on our transformations with translation, reflection, and rotation practice 📐

We have been learning and teaching each other about Parts of Speech. Students researched a topic and created a lesson for the class!

Our class joined with 7/8-1 for some gingerbread house building fun! Can't wait to use these builds again during our intro to structures in the new year!

7-2 has been working hard creating linkage characters and stories for their stop motion skits!

Grade 7s learning about financial literacy and exchange rates. We are working towards planning our dream trip! 🛩

7-2 is recording their stop motion presentations today! They have been working so hard on their linkage characters and backgrounds. So excited to see the final products! 🎥

7-2 is designing and building houses for our structures unit! We started with creating a model and calculating the surface area - can't wait for all the moving parts as we add insulation (science, heat), build our ecosystem (science, life systems) and even more exciting things!

The grade 7s have been working extremely hard since February on this cross curicular project - a job well done in the end!
