I took my first shower since my brain surgery today. It was scary. Imagine a shower being scary. But I’m grateful for each step and each day I’m alive. Small steps. #cancerlogues

since my brain surgery I feel less tethered to this world- like I’m floating between this life and the next. I’m sure it’s swelling and science but it also feels mystical somehow. it makes my appreciate how connected I felt to my life so far on this journey. #cancerlogues

not quite 2 weeks since I had brain surgery. upon reflection, I don’t recommend “awake craniotomy” showing up as a scheduled procedure on your EMR without anyone talking to you about it. but stage 4 cancer is rude like that. doesn’t leave a lot of space for humanity.

I am at the hospital for my first series of medical appointments since my brain surgery and there are a surprising number of people here who apparently don’t understand their nose is connected to their lungs. and who also apparently need to snack. legit WTF moment.

in today’s act of useless rebellion, the 17YO refuses to look at the senior school supply list because “it doesn’t matter” and will instead order what he “feels like” getting. SENIOR YEAR: Intuitive School Supplies™

I returned the book to the library app this morning and got all choked up because I realized I don’t know how many more books I will have a chance to read. Reading has truly been one of the great loves and escapes of my life. #cancerlogues
