Picked up a copy of Nibi's Water Song to share with my students. Such a beautiful book! It goes perfectly with our air and water unit, but most importantly, it furthers our understanding of social justice and its connection to our environment. Great conversation starter!πŸ’§

Last week we learned about water pollution, oil spills and the importance of stewardship. We created our own oil spills and tried to clean them up with a spoon and paper towel. Students decided it was hard work! We also looked at how oil affects birds and their feathers. πŸͺΆπŸ›’οΈπŸ’§

After reading the Easter Bunny's Assistant by Jan Thomas, students decided that Skunk did not make a good assistant. They wrote persuasive letters to the Easter Bunny suggesting a different animal that might be better. So many creative ideas! You have to read these!πŸ‡

These tulip bulbs came all the way from the Netherlands and today they bloomed! Students really enjoyed watching them grow and develop. They learned about traditional tulip festivals in the Netherlands and about hydroponics. We had fun predicting what colour they would be!🌷

How can air take up space if we can't see it? Students completed an experiment to investigate this and were mind blown by the results! The paper towel came out dry! 🀯 #kitchenscience

A HUGE thank you to Firefighter Angie (girl power!) Toronto Fire Services πŸ‡¨πŸ‡¦ for visiting our class to teach us about fire safety! Students were engaged and inspired! We put our newly learned letter writing skills to the test by co-creating this awesome letter for her. πŸ‘©πŸ»β€πŸš’πŸš’πŸ”₯

Today was the letter D in our ABC countdown. D is for Dance Party! On top of a real dance party, students also coded their own! This was a great addition to Course B, which students just completed. I can't thank code.org enough! So AMAZING (and free)! TeachCode

Looking to get kids arguing about math? Check out wouldyourathermath.com from John Stevens. Lots of great "Would you rather..." scenarios that require math to win the argument.
