WomenEdMYS, as a post-workshop follow-up, here are my book recommendations. Not comprehensive but a good start. Here's to getting provoked with the readings and to taking action!
“Having our stories written, directed, and played without us is not representation; it’s exploitation, or patronising interpretation at best.” Michelle MiJung Kim (she/her) speaking truth!
A talk from WomenEd 10%Braver #DisruptiveWomen at #cobis22 looking at the need to push more gender equality in leadership - @LizAMFree - shares Council of International Schools data that shows in intl schools: male/female pay gap in top positions is $12k. White/non-white, $33k local/international hired leaders - $39k.
Suggests schools need to be more mindful of how they publish job ads - suggests asking for past salaries should not happen, and Vivienne Porritt OBE FCCT FRSA says doing this "bakes in" gender pay inequality "You don't need to ask - you know what good teachers cost"
"Teachers have the capability of being identity creators" - jessica wei huang Such a huge responsibility that should not be taken lightly by educators or school leaders. Thank you Jessica, for your inspirational presentation about the Warm Demander framework and DEIJ in schools.
