I shared my favourite poem with P7 today for National Poetry Day. There were shouts of ‘Miss I can’t believe you like this!’ and sighs of relief when I read it bottom to top! We spoke about challenging people even if they are in positions of authority (which includes teachers!)

Always wanted to read The Alchemist’ but never got round to it. After Kareem’s mum’s recommendation today I’ve bought it and I’m starting it tonight! 📚

Read this amazing ‘novel in verse’ in one sitting last night. I couldn’t put it down. An uncomfortable reflection on racism within school and prison systems. It also reminded me of Rita Pierson’s famous TedTalk and the importance of nurturing adults 📚

Today I managed to combine 3 of my favourite things. Reading, an amazing P7 class and Taylor Swift . We listened to Karma (clean version!) and picked apart the metaphors before pinching some ideas to write about our love of Reading! 📚💥

We have had a few years of creative and online nativities. When I printed off the script for our first ‘on the stage’ nativity since 2019 today, I was filled with equal parts joy and fear 😂 #flickerflicker 🔥 👀

The two biggest changes in my practise over the years have been: 1. the importance of listening to parents and carers without judgement, agenda or assumption 2. becoming a parent myself It’s a privilege to learn more about both of my jobs from such courageous parents 💜
