Today we discussed questions about The Outsiders back-to-back and face-to-face! I heard some great discussion and thoughts about the text.

Today we became CSI’s and investigated a crime scene. Students made inferences about the crime based on the evidence before reading chapter four of The Outsiders.

Rockvale Ravens Book Club met today and had a great discussion on the book Starfish by Author Lisa Fipps! I love when students can’t wait to discuss a book together.

Today we had such a great class analyzing Phineas Gage’s recovery after his accident. Students were able to list his physical and psychological symptoms and cite evidence to support or refute Dr. Harlow’s statement that Phineas was fully recovered.

Great day as we conducted a trial for the narrator of The Tell-Tale Heart. Students were so engaged, and I am so proud of them!

During enrichment time, I tried a version of a strategy that I observed at the high school last week. I loved how the hexagonal thinking led to great discussions and connections about our Poe unit!

Today we are finishing up one of my favorites to teach - Drums, Girls, and Dangerous Pie. My seventh graders have really enjoyed reading it together. Thanks Jordan Sonnenblick for such a wonderful story!

In 100 days, my new book series debuts. I can't wait for you to read it. And, if you can't wait either, I'm going to give away an Advanced Reader's Copy. Retweet this post and you're automatically entered for a chance to win. I'll pick a random winner later this week. Simon Kids
