Garland High School Speech & Debate doing it again! 3 more state qualifiers and 2nd place sweepstakes at the highly competitive Hockaday tournament Talia Powell @Doc_torSus

Speech and Debate competed at the Creekview Winter Extravaganza. 17 students competed and 10 brought home a total of 15 individual awards. As a team we brought home 1st PLACE SWEEPSTAKES! Extra congratulations to Joshua Eneji for qualifying for Nationals this weekend! 🦉🖤💛

GHS Speech and Debate competed at TFA State tournament over the weekend. Of the 18 students that qualified: 14 competed, 8 broke to out rounds, and Carrington Haynes FINALED placing 5th in Program of Oral Interpretation! Jasmine John was awarded a $1000 scholarship! Gig'em Owls!

“Can I bring my baby to the interview?” The message came in at 11 PM: “Hi, I have an interview with you tomorrow at 2 PM. My childcare fell through. Can I bring my 8-month-old? I understand if you need to reschedule.” Old me would have rescheduled. Unprofessional. Distraction.
