Counting vertices is a whole lot easier when you get to build the cube first! We love using manipulatives to build a concrete understanding of math concepts, like counting edges, vertices, and faces in #geometry! #mathgames #secondgrade #collaborate #create #LCPS19

Today’s “Pizza Fraction Battle” helped us visualize and compare fraction sizes! We figured we’d rather eat a sixth of a pizza than a sixteenth, and now we’re all hungry! 😂🍕 #iteachmath #secondgrade #LCPS19 #math

I went into my classroom this morning to get something in order for our field trip, and I came back to find one of my students in my usual greeting spot, welcoming her peers for the day. Warmed my heart! 🥰 #secondgrade #KindnessMatters #LCPS19

Today during #WildCatsExplore I got the chance to teach watercolors to my very first class once more before they head to middle school. I am so proud of the wonderful young people they have become here at Weller! They’re off to achieve great things! #myfirstclass #secondgrade ☺️

The '19-'20 School year is coming to a close very soon. Though I'm sad that we can't be together in person, I'm so proud of my 4th graders for adapting to remote learning. We have all learned new skills this Spring and that is something to be celebrated! Well done Killam Koalas!

Comparing 1/4 and 3/8 is more concrete when you can build a pizza! We’ve been ordering and comparing fractions using a variety of methods— manipulatives and number lines are just a few ways that have helped students problem solve and compare fractions this year. Camelot 4th Grade
