When my class come into school they draw a circle to show they are here. We then discuss this in terms of a part part model and our class as a whole. I also write it as a fraction. Drip feeding maths whenever I can!

I’ve put together some resources that I’m going to keep on the kids tables durning maths. I got the template from Canva (number square, shapes, fractions, angles) then added from whiterose maths used. Link below. Hope it works - if not DM me. Want doc to stay live to add more.

The ignorance around how hard teachers have to work just to keep their heads above water is staggering at times. The ‘teachers don’t know what hard work is’ mantra, attached to the ‘6 week holidays’ and ‘3.30 finish’ jibes. These are mostly ppl with absolutely no concept of what

I feel ever so slightly late to the hype, but this is a book so good I finished it and immediately ordered Year 6 a class set. It's absolutely and completely superb and I can't wait to read it with them.

The worst feedback I used to get at the start of my career (I think it's largely died a death now) is that the TA needed to be actively doing something during my input. Delving deeper this usually meant either doing the same input or actively modelling to 'low' chn at same time.

For anyone who teaches using a PowerPoint but also wants to use their visualiser - the cameo function on PowerPoint will change your life. Embed the visualier directly into PPT slide so no more faffing around going in and out of PowerPoint

Lush WCR lesson yesterday. Working hard on using evidence to back up a viewpoint. I gave them 6 statements and they had to choose a side (no fence sitting) and then explain WHY. I loved listening in on their conversations! Everyone doing the same thing, but adapted for some.

Structure strips have really helped Y4 organise their writing, especially when combined with a separate ‘planning’ session. Going to start using them more often!

Explicitly teaching vocab at the start of a unit in English, and then continually revisiting it, has made a world of difference. Focused on application and understanding, rather than researching definitions. (Not everyone has sentence stems but these work well!)

Does anyone know of any poems or picture books similar in tone to ‘Oh, the places you’ll go!’? I read it last year and I’ve already been asked what I’ll be doing this year. I’m thinking ahead to our Year 6 leavers assembly. Any suggestions would be much appreciated 🙏
