The difference between #FormativeAssessment and #SummativeAssessment is more than just whether a teacher assigns a grade. This handy table from Assessment as a Catalyst for Learning breaks down the characteristics of each. bit.ly/4abPyNH #Assessment #Grading

Identifying essentials is just step one. The real work? Treating them like they’re actually essential. It’s not enough to declare the standard—we have to grow every student to meet it. Words don’t move kids, action does.

The Lincoln Heights Beta Club Induction for 2024-2025 was a success! Tons of great kids were recognized as they became part of an organization that promotes character, striving for success, and a commitment to serving others. So proud of them! #GoodToGreat @LHMS_Patriots

The Guiding Coalition is a team. It’s structured like a team. Team members create and pursue a common goal. They are mutually accountable to each other. They work interdependently. They create and operate by agreed-upon norms. The principal must be an active member. Solution Tree

Real teams aren’t just groups of people—they’re built on interdependence. You need the person next to you to accomplish the goal. In education, success comes from collaboration, not isolation. You can’t do this work alone. #StrongerTogether #CollectiveImpact

Interesting study found dopamine shifts focus as we learn, connecting new ideas to old. In class, link fractions to pizza sharing or gravity to dropping toys. It helps kids move info from working memory to long-term storage, boosting focus & recall! Design dopamine moments.

My first year as @LHMS_Patriots Assistant Principal was amazing! It wouldn't have been possible without my mentor and friend, Jaime Greene. This chapter has closed, but a new one awaits! #GoodToGreat #PatriotPride

If the bottom line becomes “Did they learn the essentials?” everything else falls into place. But the truth is, we’re scared of results, because results hold us accountable. It’s time to stop fearing the answer and start demanding it.

The more we talk about the mistakes made: By learners in the classroom during learning By teachers while designing the learning The less mistakes we eventually make moving forward. Mistakes are discoveries. Nothing to be ashamed of. Something to be acclaimed.
