Learning about the fall season earlier this year.

Artist of the month for October was Henri Matisse. Ss learned about how he ‘drew pictures with scissors’, and then they tried it in order to make leaves for their fall trees. Then they used ten frames to represent how many leaves their trees had. St. Mary Immaculate CES #STREAM

Our SK/1 class investigated life on a farm this fall. SK’s learned about turkeys, spiders, apples and pumpkins. Gr1s focused on how different kinds of energy are used on the farm in order to create the energy (food) our bodies need. St. Mary Immaculate CES #STREAM

After reading the story, “Room on the Broom”, students responded by retelling and making connections. They also made magical cauldrons like the one in the book . St. Mary Immaculate CES

Our Fairy Tale study was context for social studies units in both grades - Gr1: changing roles, responsibilities, relationships, and SKs: social skills (getting along, cause & effect). Ss enjoyed reading the stories and retelling them through writing & the arts! 👑🏰 St. Mary Immaculate CES

Every day we begin our Math lessons with a number talk. SK’s & Gr.1s are using many mental math strategies lately, and are doing a great job at explaining their thinking too! St. Mary Immaculate CES
