In Peter Pan Class we have been reading Pirates Love Underpants by Claire Freedman. The children have been receiving letters from a mystery character in the book and have been using the clues left in our classroom to work out who it might be. Summerswood School @MsMcLaughlinSPS
In Reception this week we have been learning about 2D and 3D shapes. The children all made a party hat in the shape of a cone. They have also all worked together to create this amazing shape picture. We've even had time to explore the ice outside. Summerswood School
Can you guess what book we've been reading in Peter Pan Class this week? The children have loved searching for the evil pea and making their own supertatoes. Summerswood School
Who needs toy boats when you can make one yourself? The children loves using junk modelling materials to make boats they could float in our water tray. They even added rocks to see how much weight they could take. #playingandlearning Summerswood School
In phonics this week we have learnt the sounds i, n, m and d. Coming up next week is g, o, c & k. Can you find any objects around the house beginning with 'g' ready for Monday morning? π» Summerswood School
This week we have looked at 'The Family Book'' by Todd Par and the children have enjoyed sharing what they like to do with their families. Next week we will be reading 'It's okay to be different' where we will be celebrating how we are all unique and special! π Summerswood School

Wow! What a fantastic first half term for our Reception children. We now know the following sounds; s, a, t, p, I, n, m, d, g, o, c, k, ck, e, u, r! We are now beginning to use what we know to write short CVC (consonant, vowel, consonant) words like cat, dog etc! Summerswood School
How are you feeling today? Last week the children loved reading our shared story 'Colour Monsters.' We are now confident sharing how we are feeling and know it's ok to feel lots of different emotions. Very proud to see children writing initial sounds in words! β Summerswood School
