The #OT 'What's in the box?' activity this week Topcliffe Primary We sang Old McDonald and the children put their hand in the box to find an animal. There were other random objects inside so this was about using touch without vision to develop tactile awareness and discrimination!

The C track! When children are just beginning to form letters this activity using big arm movements can help and it's also motivating and fun. The green and red dots signify where to start and end. Topcliffe Primary
Practicing our #OT skill of the month. Children with reduced hand strength/ coordination can begin by picking up larger objects with the tweezers. Here we have used cotton reels and this young man did a great job of picking them up and transfering to the tub! Topcliffe Primary
The new #OT skill of the month Topcliffe Primary is opening packets. Each skill of the month is aimed at promoting independence in motor skills and self-care tasks. Children who become more independent have improved self-esteem and confidence!

Lots of cutlery skills practice this week for the Topcliffe Primary #OT skill of the month. Here the children are cutting through therapy putty which requires quite a bit of hand strength. They did a great job and were super resilient! 👏🤩
A simple visual task plan is so important for lots of children who attend #OT sessions Topcliffe Primary They offer security in knowing the plan and they help to manage expectations with a clear start and finish. The children turn over the symbols when each task is complete.
This spring sensory activity Topcliffe Primary was the warm up for handwriting tasks this week. Using the tweezers and scoop develops hand eye coordination, tripod finger isolation, hand strength and bilateral coordination. It would also make a great sensory food play activity 🤩
Super work on balance, core and upper limb strength and stability from these girls this morning Topcliffe Primary They completed 3 repetitions of 5 seconds to warm up for their #OT session 🤩👏
Our new #OT skill of the month Topcliffe Primary is balance! Congratulations to all the winners in March for improving their cutlery skills. Certificates and dojos will be issued next week 😊
Sensory play sessions this week Topcliffe Primary with cornflour! It's safe to say that this student fully immersed himself in the experience and it couldn't have been more successful! Searching for hidden objects, exploring and talking about texture and splatting with hands 👏🌟
Activities with a balance focus can take many forms. Here the girls are balancing with one foot on top of a ball which they then have to pass to each other without putting their foot on the ground. A great one to try for our #OT skill of the month Topcliffe Primary
