Reviewing patterns using classroom materials. We know that every pattern has a core that is repeated in a logical way. Patterns can be represented by colour, shape, size and number. Can you find the types of patterns our SS were making? AB, ABB,ABC,AAB

This week we have been learning how to make inferences. SS have been using prior knowledge (schema) and content clues to make reasonable inferences when examining an image or short passage.

This week we learned that patterns can grow and shrink by following a pattern rule. SS were challenged to first determine whether a pattern was growing or shrinking and then find the pattern rule by identifying the “difference” between 2 of the numbers in the sequence.

Today we learned about the inclined plane. SS took a hands on approach by designing and engineering their own simple machines using common classroom materials. Ask your child what they learned about the correlation between slope steepness and force.

S.S are proud to publish their first fictional narrative story! After examining some popular book covers, their final step was to design a book cover of their own. The creativity was flowing!

Working together to learn how to accurately read and pronounce fraction-focused language. Bonus: Ask your child to identify the numerator and denominator and what they represent.

Our visit to Willow Park Ecology Centre was a great opportunity for students to extend their learning on life systems. Ask your child what amphibians and insects they found!
