Deputy First Minister and Gaelic Secretary Kate Forbes MSP has welcomed a 50% increase in the number of people with some Gaelic skills. “This is vitally important in securing the future of Gaelic which I take very seriously as Scotland’s first Cabinet Secretary for Gaelic.”

It’s Census 2022 results day! #Gaelic numbers have been released: 130,120 people now have Gaelic-language skills - UP 43,000. ~70,000 people now speak Gaelic - UP 12,000. ~22,000 people under 16 speak Gaelic - UP from ~9,000. Ceumannan beaga!
