Observing and discussing shadows today!! We loved seeing how the sun caused us to have shadows, and when we moved into the shade our shadows disappeared! Our shadows copy whatever we do! 💃🏼 #science #handsonlearning

Today, one of my students was crying. I told her to go to our calm down corner to practice what I taught her yesterday. I watched her sit & take deep breaths until her crying stopped. Then she smiled (to tell her brain she was okay!) 🧠🎉 #celebratesuccess

For teacher appreciation week, one of my first graders brought me a bag full of my favorite treats. I texted her mom to thank her and she responded, “She bought those all with her own money.” I don’t think anything could have made me feel more appreciated. ❤️

May we never underestimate the power of grace. Grace for your students. Grace for your coworkers. Grace for your admin. Grace for parents. Grace for yourself. Grace for the 2020-2021 school year. (We made it!!!)

I am so excited to integrate the zones of regulation into my class this year! My kids will do morning and afternoon check-ins and use the mirror to help as they recognize how they are feeling. Cornerstone Schools

Today in kindergarten we talked all about kindness: what being kind means, how we can be kind, and why it is important to be kind to others. We worked together to color this sign to have as a reminder in our class that KINDNESS MATTERS💛 #bekind Cornerstone Schools

As an educator, I’m constantly learning along with my students. I tossed out my clip chart this year & can already tell a HUGE difference in my classroom. I’m using strategies from “Conscious Discipline” & “No Drama Discipline” & it’s been a game changer! 👏🏼

An escalated child is not ready to sit & talk about making wiser choices/apologize. Sometimes it’s best to take deep breaths together, sometimes they need their space. Wait until they’re calm & then have a conversation about what happened. #nodramadiscipline

We’ve been describing buttons based on their attributes, and today we started sorting them! First we sorted them by color, and then we sorted them by shape! #kindergarten #math #teamwork

Yesterday we read “The Rainbow Fish” and discussed the importance of kindness and sharing. Then, we worked together as each student added a scale to our very own rainbow fish. This hangs in our classroom as a reminder that sharing is caring! 💜 #Kindergarten

These preschoolers are rocking it in STEM! Last week we discussed patterns and made candy canes with beads and pipe cleaners! Today we worked on some fine motor skills as we used tweezers to decorate Christmas trees 🎄 #STEM #preschool #teacher

Teaching STEM to pre-k often looks like a lot of differentiation to meet needs for each age! Twos practiced counting today, Threes worked on making pictures out of shapes, and Fours & Fives worked on puzzles! We love hands on learning 🤩 #STEM #preschool

Yesterday we learned how to make predictions as we experimented with food coloring, baking soda, and vinegar. These students had so much fun!! 🧪🧑🏻‍🔬👩🏾‍🔬 #stem #preschool #science #teaching

Grow, grow, grow!! All month in STEM we have been learning about plants and what they need to live! Today we planted our very own seeds and gave them everything they need to grow! We can’t wait to see what happens 🪴 #STEM #preschool #handsonlearning

Created this tool kit for one of my preschoolers that needs some support with regulating emotions! We have been using it to discuss helpful/wise choices for when he feels big emotions. #preschool #emotionalregulation #teach
