I quite liked the state looking after me. They gave me milk, vaccinations against deadly illnesses, they paid for my education, provided libraries where I could read stuff, and gave me a maintainance grant when I went to uni and paid my fees. This is why I vote Labour!

‘Oh the houmous has really improved this week.’ I uttered this in the staff room whilst eating our morning snack. This is what 18 months of prep school life does to one.

Apprenticeship in teaching, again cheapening the profession in the eyes of the public, feeding into the misguided notion that anyone can do it. The race to the bottom continues. Can we not stand up for our profession?

I cant believe this chat around going to the loo. I teach 10-13 year olds, if I need to go, I go. It’s a sad world we live in if you can’t trust young people to get on quietly for 2 mins without their demonic overlord watching them!

If your method for keeping your children entertained in public is to stick a phone or iPad in front of them, you are a terrible parent. If you have the volume turned up, you are a terrible human.

I live in a nice village, the primary has a poor reputation. Every AM there’s an armada of cars ferrying children to neighbouring villages to attend elsewhere. I think children should go to their local school, it should be at centre of community & a matter of community pride.

We have no mobile phones in school. In my two years here one child has brought one in; immediately confiscated and detention given. Our children talk and play at their break times. I see no reason for a child to have a phone in school.

Saw someone extolling the virtues of their workplace and mentioning ‘centralised detentions’ as a selling point. Just made me profoundly sad.

I live opposite our village primary, as I went to my car this AM pretty much every child of year 5/6 age was staring at a phone as they walked. Not talking with each other, not running, not interacting. Why would parents allow that? Why would school allow phones on the premises?

After being curious for years, I’m visiting Michaela School today, very keen to see for myself, rather than listening to voices on here, how the school actually functions and how it establishes a culture conducive to learning. Katharine Birbalsingh

1/2 This weather is our annual reminder that so many school buildings are simply not fit for purpose. It’s insane that there’s no upper temp limit for safe working. So many kids absolutely melting & staff trying to keep going when everywhere is utterly stifling. It’s bonkers.

You’re a school, it’s term time. Business as usual. Open as normal. Parents let their kids stay up, fair enough. It’s a life lesson, stay up but you still have responsibilities tomorrow. We create problems for ourselves.

Gotta love private school holidays! Those of you still fighting the good fight….. I shall raise a cocktail glass to you during happy hour.

Donald Trump wants to take our country backwards to a time before many of our fellow Americans had full freedoms and rights, but we believe in a brighter future that makes room for all Americans. We believe in a future where every person has the opportunity not just to get by,
