Of the many problems with this recycled announcement - most schools already deal with mobile use in a way that fits their community - this sort of announcement makes it sound like they aren't and that makes heads lives harder and perception of schools worse.

A really good question from a great headteacher I know. If a member of staff used the same language as the Home secretary used yesterday, would they be failing in their safeguarding duties if they didn't flag this up with Prevent as a person who has potentially been radicalised?

I think this week has been my favourite of the year so far. Genuinely loving teaching my class this year and been able to have some very important but necessary conversations with staff about improvement needs. Things are coming up sunshine! ✨

Teachers don't leave because it's hard. Teachers are some of the hardest working professionals I know. They leave because the expectations and demands become more unrealistic every year.

On today’s episode of odd things I had to do: explaining to a parent how school shoes are different from a pair of trainers.

Being sat in a room while someone delivers a PowerPoint presentation to you, is NOT training. If there isn't any participation, practice and assessment of knowledge obtained, it is, at most, an hour-long listening session. Sometimes "listening" is an overstatement! #EduTwitter

Parent Information Coffee Morning, followed by School Football Day and ending with Parent Teacher Evening. Ex. Hau. Sted.

There’s something incredibly frustrating about parents not showing up for Parent Teacher evening. The time and effort to prepare for these is quite hefty for it to just be skipped over.

Happy (almost) half-term break! Have 3 candidates to interview for a teaching post this morning - all strong applications so here’s hoping three strong lesson observations also. ✨

Schools function on a lot of ‘good will’ from staff. Offering to do things like staying late, organising things last minute, going on trips. When staff are exhausted or start putting boundaries in place because they’re burning out it’s quite a shock for some people.
