Year 7 whole year group reading this afternoon. We are reading My Sister Lives On The Mantlepiece this half term. The routines are already being embedded allowing us to start closing those reading and vocabulary gaps effectively.

Developed this for summarising, predicting and wondering. This is definitely something I’ll do again. As I read, they had to make predictions, draw pictures, ask questions and summarise at the end of every chapter. They really loved this; I feel it made my kids really listen.

I used to print maps to teach the distribution of earthquakes and volcanoes. Not only did this cost money (colour printing😆) but I never really felt that students grasped what I wanted them to. So after watching videos mainly Alistair Hamill (thank you!) I now use GIS! 🧵
