As we continue to promote CS in the primary sector, then there is an opportunity to help create more desire and push for CS to be better available at higher and further education. All children should have the opportunity to continue the passion for CS from primary to secondary.

I've done this lesson with over 100 children and each time it's probably one of the best ones for those starting to look at loops. Show them how to make a square and then let them experiment with the variables for the loop, steps and rotation to see how many more they can make.

You'd be surprised how often I have to remind pupils how to do this, weeks into a learning block 😅 When they write their code and ask why it isn't working, it's 8/10 times because they accidently had selected the backdrop and not their sprite. Make sure the Sprite is selected!

Today was the first time trialling Micro:bit Educational Foundation home learning kits. So far, 2 families have signed out kits, which they will get to explore over the next few days, hopefully returning them on Monday. The idea is for pupils to extend their learning experience at home.

We are so privileged to have such amazing technology at our fingertips. Do we just use it to consume or to create as well? Children need to learn how to use it to create and to aid their learning rather than just seeing it as a way to be entertained.

I've seen a lot of content around the affects of screen time on children and the initial results that Australia are seeing from their phone ban in high schools. It's made me wonder: how much time do our kids in class spend looking at a screen? Are we adding to the problem?
