Let Canada's euthanasia experiment be a warning to the UK. • Euthanasia will not be limited. • Euthanasia will undermine suicide prevention efforts. • Euthanasia will devalue the lives of people with disabilities. • Euthanasia will threaten the doctor-patient relationship.

Today the Covid 19 Inquiry heard that at least one NHS trust implemented a blanket Do Not Attempt Resuscitation Order during the pandemic. That means patients were considered ineligible for resuscitation on the basis of age or disability, without being individually assessed. 1/6

To those saying comments like "oh good more money for those who contribute nothing" - check ur facts! 40% of UC claimants are the working poor others are carers, have disabilities or illness, & some who don't have work, want it. A little more compassion & less judgement

This time of the year acutely exposes the inequality gap. From rich 'influencers' ripping out the quality street to invite an elf back to the house & the parallel invites to those who have more 'drop a tin.' I find the contrast difficult to bear #inequality #poverty

Sean was a tireless advocate for the disability community. I’m proud of the things we accomplished together & saddened we won’t get to do those we’d plan to in the future. Mostly I’m saddened for his family & their profound loss.

Employment survey: I am doing research into the experiences of disabled people finding work. I'm focussing on people who, like me, have a physical impairment. I would be grateful if you could consider participating in the survey, or sharing it with those who may. The survey

And that’s why booking assistance, calling hotlines and doing handstands just to participate while non-disabled people just have to show up aren’t equality.

Breaking: DWP's “misleading and unfair” consultation on disability benefit reforms unlawful, the High Court has ruled. Ministers presented reforms as supporting disabled people into work, when savings was a “primary rationale”.   Huge congrats to Ellen Clifford. A legend.

Great article! Favourite line, “participation is dependent on the space rendered appropriate, engagement with constructions associated with a disabled identity & a constant & fluctuating negotiation & renegotiation of inclusion & participation.” Sounds like disability to me!
