NASA only uses 15 digits of π for calculating interplanetary travel. At 40 digits, you could calculate the circumference of a circle the size of the visible universe with an accuracy that'd fall off by less than the diameter of a single hydrogen atom ow.ly/rhmO30o4k7G

Our brilliant technician has excelled himself again. This time turning a pack Poundland baubles into this beautiful pendulum wave! The baubles were filled with sand to weight them. We then put our Y13 students in charge of calculating the required lengths. Chat Physics 😍

A plasma ball, a fluorescent bulb, a table, and a sprinkler head for a path to ground. This is one of my favorite electricity demos and it still amazes me every time. 🔌⚡️💡 #iteachphysics

Planning the SoL for our Y8 next term. Tested James de Winter's tip from The ASE Summer conference. It's beautiful! The tip: 8B pencils conduct electricity. Mark the X axis with the pencil several times & then measure & plot the resistance. Chat Physics #STEMeducation

Hello. 100,000,000,000,000 neutrinos passed through you each second you spent reading this. And every single one of those particles is proof that our understanding of physics is incomplete. Exciting new physics is on the horizon: remember that as you sip your morning coffee ☕️

“Physics isn’t something that girls tend to fancy. They don’t want to do it. They don’t like it… There’s a lot of hard maths in there that they don’t want to do.” 🤦🏻‍♀️ Katharine Birbalsingh, UK Government Social Mobility Commission Chair #WomenInSTEM parliamentlive.tv/Event/Index/f1…

cravenscience Sometimes the point of a practical isn't directly the learning that would be gained from it, but the enthusiasm and enjoyment derived from doing it. Creating a positive ethos and a lesson "where you get to do cool things" makes for pupils happy to be there.

Hippos can’t technically swim The perfect combination of buoyancy and bone density allows them to “fly” thorough water at speeds of 5mph, (8 kph) propelling themselves using intermittent ground contact, like astronauts on a moon walk

“If I could give you one thought, it would be to lift someone up. Lift a stranger up - lift her up. I would ask you, mother and father, brother and sister, lovers, mother and daughter, father and son, lift someone. The very idea of lifting someone up will lift you, as well.”

Kayaking in Northern Vietnam with Miss McColl and we have had several conversations about how these rocks end up sideways! Can you help @Geopunkrocker?

Some lovely resources shared here by the author, for Physics. There are also pages for Biology and Chemistry too 👏👏👏👏 snapshotscience.co.uk/physics-resour…
