This reminded me of all the years of AIS teaching with ⁦IFL⁩ support. The most important thing they taught me was to listen to student thinking and make connections from early thinking to new thinking. ⁦Desmos⁩ makes room for this daily! open.substack.com/pub/danmeyer/p…

Can we do this at our next department meeting? 😊 I do notice students don’t typically get much experience with area and geometric visualization by the time I see them. This would be great to try! Thank you! vimeo.com/779776180

I’m dying to know what 20% of students responded. Dan Meyer Maybe 6? (solve for perimeter of 10 and noticed only one side of 4cm was labeled)

Sometimes we forget that with every teacher decision comes a vote for change. A chance to push perceptions into a better light. What’s your vote?

Made it Midway so far and it feels fitting to grab a coffee @CafeDecart on my way to the Desmos fellowship opening weekend. #desmosfellowship

So much to notice and wonder this weekend with Amplify and Desmos fellows. I noticed how quickly it felt like home and wonder when we’ll meet again. So many thanks to all who made this happen.

Can’t lie, coming off the Amplify @desmosclassroom fellowship weekend to return to grading a test wasn’t sounding super exciting. Then I start reading comments like this one (from a student that hasn’t loved math in past years). 😢 😁 I’m calling 2022-23 a win.

I recently built a version of a task from nrich.maths.org in Desmos Classroom and used it with some strategies from #buildingthinkingclassrooms. It is a great example of how technology can support collaborative tasks. teacher.desmos.com/activitybuilde…
