5th grade is feeling very shattered that they have been lied to about math all their lives. One has a 4th sis. “I’m going home and telling her that everything they are telling is lies… you CAN get a bigger answer with division. Why have they lied to us?” 😬🤷🏼‍♀️

"This is a recurring problem with Big Standardized Tests, this notion that if a yardstick is good for measuring the length of a shoe, it can also measure the length of an interstate highway, or the relative humidity, or atomic weight, or how ugly that pig is."

Something I'm trying to figure out is why we invent the same learning technology (IPI, Khan Academy, flipped learning, self-paced learning, Modern Classrooms) every few years going back to at least the 1970s. What makes this idea so appealing?

I need to start making a thread of these. I can't think of another idea that has been tried so many times to such little effect and is still so appealing to so many.
