The government’s 80% wage guarantee is great, if you’re employed. This is a really positive step, and I’m glad to see it happen. But the protections for the self-employed and those already made redundant are inadequate. The renters policy is woeful. These need fo be fixed ASAP!

Self-employed workers have only been guaranteed *£94.25* a week - a big loophole in promise of economic protection.

Freelancers. Gig economy workers. The self-employed. Why are the government paying 80% of everyone else's wages but not theirs? It is simply not fair and not good enough.

I’m self employed. I had my tour cancelled. I’ve had every bit of work for the year cancelled. My industry currently doesn’t exist. I pay my taxes & pay into the economy. Yet millions like me get no support. Why not give the self employed the same support as employees?

This deal completely fails to deal seriously with situation for self-employed - huge sector in #Brighton. Simply nowhere near enough to offer UC at rate of SSP - that’s just £94 week. Self-employed should be part of the same package for age earners - 80% of average wages.

If employed people get 80% of their income guaranteed up to £2,500 a month during #COVID19, so should gig economy workers and the self-employed. This is a simple matter of fairness.

I would fully support that - so much that I’ll start calling for it! Now that issues have been sorted for others, we should be able to get more focus on the self-employed.

I'm getting loads of messages from people who are self employed and working within the night time economy. Freelancers, artists, security etc. The government have looked after full time staff. They now need to apply similar measures for the self employed. The fight goes on.
