Storytelling is an art form that binds brands to audiences. A good story can create meaningful connections that drive brand loyalty, helping to differentiate you in a crowded space. Your story can be your most powerful PR weapon.

A few of my freelancing friends have lost some big clients at the start of the year which caused instability and panic. Having an abundance mindset helps me traverse the the rocky road of freelancing. What helps you?

For every journalist that prefers one way, there is another that prefers the opposite. Tweets complaining about PR pros are exhausting and unnecessary. We should def pitch on topic, etc., but it’s impossible and unrealistic for us to know exact preferences for every journalist.

Newsflash: there’s no PR without journalists. - Be respectful in *every* interaction - Never demand anything - Do your research

No, journalists do not *have* to read your pitch. They get hundreds a day. They’re only interested in the ones that are meaningful to their audiences. Want to stop getting ignored? 1. Find the right journalist 2. Craft a relevant pitch 3. Summarize it in the subject line Boom.

What I say: "Looking forward to your feedback!" What I mean: "Looking forward to taking every single one of your edits super personally!"

Had a client just say she will try her hand at writing a press release using Chat GPT and send the first draft to me . Ouch. #mediarelations #publicrelations

Founders: journalists are neither your friends nor your enemies. They’re truth-seekers with a code of ethics who work hard to convey meaningful and accurate information to the public.

If your PR agency isn’t earning you media when you’ve got nothing to announce, that’s dead time on your retainer. PR agencies already get a bad rep for: - Charging multiple five figures. - While assigning junior staff to your account. - And waiting around for you to ideate

The most underrated business hack: appreciation. Tell employees you’re grateful to have them. Tell clients you’re grateful for their business. Tell reporters you’re grateful they feature your clients. It helps business. But it’s the ensuing smiles that make life brighter.

Trades are *much* easier to get into vs. top-tier publications if you have relevant news. *And* will make it easier to get into top-tier publications later. (Think about it like building your PR resume so you can land bigger and bigger placements)
