Zoning is a tool to control others - and in Pottstown, that means preventing volunteers from taking care of their neighbors. It's not enough to grant an exception for charity - municipalities simply shouldn't have the power to stop us from helping each other.

Pottstown has a pretty narrow definition of what's allowable church activity in its downtown zone. It apparently doesn't include free meal service, an essential items pantry, or family counseling. My latest: reason.com/2022/07/07/pen…

Instead of shutting down voluntary charitable action, stepping on First Amendment rights, and infringing on the Fourth Amendment, Borough of Pottstown should stop enforcing these arbitrary and unreasonable regulations. Thanks Institute for Justice for your crucial work here in Montco!
