Love hearing of a church leader supporting high school kids' right to read. Religious leaders modeling respect for others. journalinquirer.com/towns/enfield/…

It's really disturbing that Frisco ISD found that The Bluest Eye "contains obscene content." I think Frisco and many other districts need to understand the difference between "obscene" and mature. Sexual assault is not "obscene" - it is a violent crime. 1/2

Sloppy use of language like this both condones the work of censors and adopts the triggering language of political groups rather than legal definitions of words. Calling works "obscene" that are not casts aspersions. Districts need to be mindful of the terms used. 2/2

Librarians follow district policies to select materials that represent a wide range of views on controversial issues. Building well-rounded libraries is part of our jobs.

While some politicians try to erase any mention of #LGBTQ+ people and our histories by banning books in schools, we will NOT be silenced. 🗣️ For this National Read Across America Day, here are 8 books that spotlight LGBTQ+ youth and their stories. 🌈

This constant idea that Jared Patterson keeps conveying that libraries are full of sexually "explicit" materials. Um, they aren't, given his own definition of explicit IN THE BILL. James Talarico

Jared Patterson misses the logic here. So - these books are award winning books. And schools want award winning books. But in today's climate, award winning books are sexually explicit. #hb900

Book bans are unconstitutional. Students deserve to read books that reflect experiences, genders, and races as diverse as they are. yahoo.com/lifestyle/aclu…
