Another massive win for the Republic of Ireland's railway network. Meanwhile here in Northern Ireland, the NI Executive are yet to even publish long-awaited feasibility studies into reopening former railway lines across Ulster. We need better leadership. #RebuildOurRailways

None of the 350+ disabled-led organisations which oppose the AS Bill, among whom we are proud to count ourselves, are religious. We oppose it for evidence-based, principled, reasons. Not a single bona fide disabled-led group supports it. Go figure.

As set out in this thread, the causes of the court backlog are chronic lack of funding and absurd inefficiency. The government has made no proposals to address either. Their answer is to remove juries. Rather than fix the leaking roof, their solution is to burn the house down.

When Keir Starmer calls time on this utterly ridiculous idea of doing away with jury trials, as he will have to do, in the vast majority of cases I will call for the resignation of my friend David Lammy. He knows that though because I’ve told him so.

Sarah Sackman might be a barrister, but I would be willing to bet that she has conducted precisely zero Crown Court trials as one. Joanna Hardy-Susskind, on the other hand, has conducted hundreds. I know who I trust on the question of how to cut the Crown Court backlog!
