In real estate, you make money on the buy. In business, you create money in the build. In finance, you extract money on the sale.

"How much more tolerant and understanding would you be today if you could see the actions of other people as attempts to do the right thing? Whether you agree or not, how radically would this lens change your perspective on otherwise offensive actions?" - Ryan Holiday #stoicism

One good measure of company culture has got to be the frequency at which people bring up the number of years in experience into conversiaton.

I spoke with yet another scammer today. I don't know why I do this, but here we go. It all started with a few annoying Whatsapp messages trying to scam me. But we ended up wishing each other good luck 😂 1/n

The only good thing that might come out of the Karnataka Reservation Bill is that I can work in kick-ass startups without needing to stay in Bengaluru. #WorkFromHome For Real - The beauty of Bengaluru is that it's a migrant community. That is what makes it stand out.

Every culture problem looks like an operational problem. You can try to shoot for explicit ownership of things, but you will learn that explicit ownership actually equates to no ownership far more than distributed ownership. Learn to make your team feel ownership.

Most “process problems” are “people problems.” If someone wants to game the system, they’ll game any system. Hire for culture fit. Conscience, ownership, team mindset, solution mindset, pragmatism, etc. Fire fast on culture violations. Skills can be taught — values can’t.

A startup told me that one of their investors didn't like it that they were selling to newly founded startups, and wanted them to sell to bigger companies, who have more money. If investors tell you this, write them off as idiots. Selling to startups is the best thing you can do.

Paul Graham (@paulg) 's Twitter Profile Photo

As long as all newly founded startups prefer your product, don't worry about competitors who can convince larger customers. You'll own all future cohorts of companies, and that's more than enough. Plus in practice you'll eventually convert the old cohorts too, if you bother to.

I'd love to see how many of these people calling out Deepinder Goyal and 10-min delivery are willing to uninstall these apps and stop using them altogether.

This year, the Engineering role splits in two: 👨‍💻 Coders: Love writing code, worried as agents take over their passion. 👷 Builders: See code as a means to an end, excited to create more.

It isn't surprising that AI coding is very addictive. It's basically a slot machine. Many sessions aren't great, but now and then you hit a jackpot that saves you hours. This variable reward is exactly what makes slot machines so addictive. Productivity wrapped in game

You can be overly optimistic and wrong, overly pessimistic and wrong, or do nothing and be wrong. The only one with an upside is being optimistic. :)
