There’s zero climate refugees, zero countries suffering catastrophic crop failures, zero countries under water, zero species rendered extinct? You would think that at least one of these would have at least partially happened given we’re supposedly above the 1.5 tipping point.

The first thing I thought of when I heard that the EU, our commercial competitor, had “offered” FOM to 18-30 year olds, was what is their advantage of doing so and what are the conditions? Remainers don’t see the world in the reality of commercial terms.

Fiona Bruce asks how do the countries that are going to be underwater adapt? What countries are going to be underwater and when? How on earth can we stop it even if it happens? I think we’re in Covid-style lunacy and we’re not going to stop it.

Universal Basic Income is an ideology based on a world of low cost robots and AI doing all the jobs and work opportunities for humans almost non existent. We are centuries from this. Those who want it now are either control freaks, communists or don’t want to earn their money.

Within a week police intervened to shut down two conferences in Europe: a pro-Palestine conference in Berlin and, yesterday, the National Conservatism conference in Brussels. Not only does this signal the EU’s inexorable slide from soft to hard fascism. But it should make it

My street in Norfolk suddenly looking very lush and the fields have been freshly ploughed. Teaming with wildlife. Zero evidence of cataclysmic climate failure here. What’s it like where you live?

I recently did a short online Politics course through Oxford University. One of the first things said by the tutor was to the effect that we must accept that Diversity is our Strength. Debate felt constrained throughout the course and I gave up participating in the forums.

What is more far right than closing down a Conference where participants have different, but not illegal views on political matters? This is happening in the EU, thank goodness we’re not part of it.

Even if “consensus” drifts away from the current view of “climate crisis”, they won’t ever admit it because they have been too definitive. Same thing happened to cause the Post Office scandal, on Covid and vaccines, on Labour causing the worldwide financial crash…it’s narrative

Hospitality needs to pay people much more than minimum wage and customers need to get used to paying more. The problem is that this pressure has come after the most difficult few years with covid closures/restrictions and the cost of living situation - and Govt is not helping.

My understanding is that Iran has responded in a limited way to an attack by Israel on a diplomatic building in breach of UN Regs. Iran says it doesn’t plan any further military response. I’d say Israel/the West will be the aggressor if they launch another attack.

For all those worried about the climate crisis, the destruction of farmland and widespread starvation, I can confirm that all seems normal in Norfolk. We’ve not had devastatingly heavy rain and temperatures are almost getting to normal. Crops seem to be growing as usual. 😊

Looking back at my time running a pub I can see how it was all-consuming. Open 90 hours a week, 365 days a year, worked/missed all celebrations, little time for life outside those walls. Publicans need to love that or make a really good living, sadly the latter is scarce.

It’s hard to fathom how the Labour Party is so popular while they push climate as the main electoral issue in London. I’m old enough to remember when their key policies were about wages, housing, cohesive communities and public services.

Young Ukrainians trying to flee conscription. There’s no elections or opposition in Ukraine anymore so there’s no way for the population to try to change course. This is a living nightmare for anyone who doesn’t want war. How they did lockdown is exactly how they do war.

Pubs and restaurants have been tipped into hard times by Covid and the cost of living situation. The industry has been unsound for decades as a result of debt-ridden and unscrupulous Pubcos, the beer tie, very high taxation, low margins and a reliance on cheap foreign labour.

If catastrophic climate levels have now been reached where is the biblical destruction it was going to cause?

I don’t really understand what CAMRA objects to about Fresh Ale - is it just labelling? 2 years ago I was helping in a Bateman’s pub and they connected keykegs to the hand pumps, no ale drinkers noticed a difference. CAMRA also supports craft keg. Beer is beer?
