Presenting metabolomics analyses: what is in a number? embopress.org/doi/full/10.10… JMeiser_lab and I wrote this short piece to raise awareness about how present metabolomics data. We hope you will find it useful. Any comment is welcome! thanks Daniel Klimmeck for the support!

Read our new study: nature.com/articles/s4225… Treatment of obese mice with small molecule inhibitors of mtDNA transcription (IMTs) leads to marked beneficial metabolic effects. The weight is normalized, the fat deposition in liver disappears and glucose homeostasis is normalized.

Our study is finally out! nature.com/articles/s4153… We here show that PARKIN is dispensable for OXPHOS function in adult mouse tissues and in skeletal muscle from a PD-patient. Thanks to Nils-Göran Larsson , Motori Lab, Thomas Perlmann and Per Svenningsson for the great collaboration!

News and Views from us on maternal transmission of mtDNA: rdcu.be/dSWDA In addition to the bottleneck mechanism and purifying selection in early oocyte development, elegant experiments show that purifying selection also occurs during postnatal mouse oocyte development.

New study from us: science.org/doi/10.1126/sc… High mtDNA copy number promotes lung cancer growth in the mouse, whereas mtDNA depletion in tumor cells reduces tumor growth. This tumor-intrinsic role for mtDNA can be exploited for development of future lung cancer therapies.
