Von diesen winzigen (ca. 2 mm) Horn- oder Moosmilben (Damaeus cf. onustus) sollen Tausende in einem m² Boden leben. Sie zerkleinern Pilze und abgestorbene Pflanzenreste. #artenvielfalt #nature #Hornmilben #Oribatida #Milben #Acari #Spinnentiere #Arachnida #TwitterNatureCommunity

"Learn SQL" Great advice no doubt. • But what topics to cover? • Which SQL database to use? • What resources to learn from? Here's is a track you can follow ↓ 1/22

I also have fresh eustala booties for #Arachtober. Not anywhere close to as large as your argiopes and such, and less noticed, but damn are they gorgeous. 💚 9/30/22. N. Florida (it was October somewhere)

A beautiful place to find a new species! This spider was photographed a few days ago and shared online by Dee Newton and Dick Bailey. As soon as I saw the photo I knew it was something special! The next day, we made the long trip out to the site where they found the spider. (1/3)

We made some merchandise for the mite nerds attending the acarological colloquium in Göttingen this week. Hope everyone enjoyed the conference and had an inspiring time!

Soil life must be protected! A new nature paper shows we are not doing it properly and tells us areas requiring particular attention. Time to act🦠🍄🐜🪱🤎 nature.com/articles/s4158…

The challenges of DNA identification! Trying to identify some litter mite sequences - at around 80% match, ologamasid mites are among the top few, but so are a beetle, lep, and even a bat! Barcode databases still contain too few verified arthropods to work well across the board.

Did you know littoral #mites are amazing and can breathe underwater due to their plastron respiration? 🙂 A very nice publication about it for #mitemonday
